Mike Terry
A hero of the Cornish rugby revival in post war seasons, Mike was a founder-member of the Penzance & Newlyn team.
He had a trial for England and played for several representative sides including Major Stanleys XV and the Cornwall and Devon which lost 9-0 to the All Blacks at Camborne in 1953.
A fearsome tackler, he also possessed a classic running style, earning him a huge number of admirers.
He had obtained a PE diploma at Loughborough College and trained in physiotherapy in Bath for whom he also played, joined the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry and saw service in the West Indies and finally at Winchester before retiring.
Mike played 26 times for Cornwall, and also played tennis for the county.
His son, Paul, carried on the sporting tradition playing cricket for Hampshire, playing also for England in one test against the West Indies.
