Wadebridge U13s 17 - Pirates U13s 19 Meeting the 'Camels' on their own patch, the Pirates edged this one in a game as tight as the score suggests. Wadebridge went 5-0 up early on before a Michael Springett try converted by Gary Nicholls made it 7-5 at the interval. The score remained the same until midway through the second half, with play very even, but Wadebridge suddenly scored two tries, one converted, to put them seemingly in control. Pirates 12 Launceston 5 In atrocious conditions both teams produced some excellent running rugby. The bigger Pirate forwards were more suited to the heavy pitch and impressed with some good rucking play. The Pirates took the lead when Javaih Poha scored in the corner after some good handling. They extended their lead when after several phases of play Oliver Semmens forced his way over to score. The conversion being tipped over the bar by the visiting defence. Approaching halftime The Pirates continued to press but could not turn pressure into points. Facing the elements in the 2nd half The Pirates continued to play some good rugby and took the opportunity to bring on the drenched squad players on the touchline. The Launceston boys never gave up and were rewarded with a late try. |
