In addition to continuing to play a key role in the Pirates team she has been selected to play for the Cornwall Girls Rugby under14 team. As an 11 year old she was moved from the scrum, where she plays with the Pirates to full back as the girls are up to three years older. Her excellent knowledge of the game and all round athletic abilities enabled her to switch to this position with great success. She made the starting line up for Cornwall in both the matches against Devon where Cornwall won the Tamar Cup for the 2006 season. More recently, Caitlin has been talent spotted by her Cornwall coaches and asked to attend South West training led by an England scout. She has also gained a place in the South West squad for two matches that may lead to a national tournament at Rugby School. Caitlin is very keen to go as far as she can in rugby which remains her first love, despite being part of other successful teams over the last year:
Junior Pirates Doing Well. Three junior members of Penzance & Newlyn RFC have had a good season so far. Thomas Cowan-Dickie & Jack Vosper,(U16). Tom (prop) & Jack(Lock) are formidable players and have played well for Cornwall. The Cornwall team, remain unbeaten for 2 seasons. 7 members of that team have been selected to train with the South West England squad. Jack will play in the divisional side while Tom will play in the development team. They will be attending the training/match this weekend where they play Munster at Bryanston School in Dorset. The following weekend they go to Wolverhampton where 75 players from all the divisional regions are selected for the England squads. We wish the boys the very best of luck.
