Pirates Colts 14 - Pontypridd Youth 0

Playing our last match of the season against Welsh tourists Pontypridd, the game on the Mennaye Field proved to be a competitive contest, as expected.

The one try in the game was scored by back-rower James Best, whilst Nick Hitchens kicked three penalties.

25/3/06 Pirates 5 Camborne 20

The weather and surface conditions made it very difficult for both sides in this Colts Cup quarter-final match played on the Nursery field, with Camborne managing to score one try in the first half and three more in the second before we hit back with a late try scored by Jacob Travers.

11/3/06 - Pirates 5 - Wadebridge 15

The visitors built up a 9-0 lead with three penalty goals, our depleted side then hitting back before the interval with try for Nick Hitchens following a well-worked back-row move.

Wadebridge had two players yellow-carded in the second half, whilst our efforts were disrupted because of injuries to Aran Benton (ankle) and Steve Bryant (knee).

4/3/06 - Pirates 18 - Bodmin 3

Getting off to a good start on the Mennaye Nurseries field, Nick Hitchens notched a personal seven-pointer, him also adding a penalty and a conversion to Matt Uren's try just before the interval. The 15-0 lead was well deserved, but to their credit Bodmin did very well in the second half, the only scores being a penalty a piece.

25/2/06 - Launceston 25 - Pirates 7

Taking quite a few U16s away to Polson Bridge for this friendly, an older and more experienced Launceston side still had to strive hard for victory. Young Charlie Armstrong from the U16s impressed once more, our points on the day coming courtesy of a try scored by Jack Eddy and a conversion from Nick Hitchens.

11/2/06 - Truro 26 - Pirates 38

With no referee turning up, both teams were grateful to Joff Collins for stepping in to officiate in this 'friendly' encounter. When play got underway, the Pirates scored first with a well worked try scored by John Morrison. Nick Hitchens converted and also followed the effort up with a successful penalty kick. Truro came back strongly before the break to score a converted try of their own.

The second half was a lively period, with tries for the Pirates scored by Charlie Armstrong (2), Steven Bryant and Tom Nicholas, all converted by the in-form Nick. This was a fine win, our second of the season against Truro.

4/2/06 - Pirates 19 - Penryn 30

We got off to a good start in this cup game, John Morrison scoring a personal seven-pointer within five minutes, this then followed with a try from hooker Ben Taylor. Penryn started to find their feet and scored two tries, with another try and conversion then following for Morrison. A third Penryn try late in the half made the scoreline 19-17 at the break.

When play resumed, Penryn dominated play, scoring a penalty and two more tries to give them a deserved win.

28/1/06 - Pirates 10 - Redruth 22

Many fringe players from both teams were given a chance to play in this friendly match which took place on the Mennaye Nursery field.

Redruth scored two tries in a lively start, but we managed to pull one back before half-time when Steven Bryant broke several tackles to score following a well-executed back-row move. The visitors had the better of the second period, though the game was kept alive thanks to a try from Robert Heath.

21/1/06 - Hayle 0 - Pirates 52

Picking from a full-strength squad, the Pirates side were comfortable winners against plucky opponents.

Scorers - tries: Jack Eddy (3), Nick Hitchens (2), Robert Lockwood, Tom McFadyen, Charlie Armstrong; cons: John Morrison (6).

14/1/06 - Pirates 34 - Liskeard-Looe 7 - report awaited .

17/12/05 - Newquay 7 - Pirates 7

Our try in this 'friendly' match was scored by No. 8 Jack Eddy, & converted by fly-half John Morrison.

10/12/05 - Pirates 33 - Penryn 24

The forwards again performed well, indicated by the fact that tries were scored by hooker Ben Taylor (2), flanker Will Baker, lock Rob Lockwood, and No. 8 Jack Eddy. Nick Hitchens slotted four conversions. It was certainly a turnaround from October, us on that occasion losing 5-22.

3/12/05 -Newquay 0 - Pirates 5

Our Colts travelled to Newquay with only 16 men due to College commitments and injuries, it at least though giving an opportunity to give some of the fringe lads

a game, all of whom performed admirably. On a windy day our young side was fully committed, them making many good tackles in a scoreless first period.

After the interval the home team looked to be taking control, but our Colts stuck to their game plan and finished strongly to enable flanker Will Baker to score a deserved match-winning try.
